Riding the TET (Day 4 | Slovenia)

24.08.2021

The night between day 3 and 4 was the coldest night I have ever experienced while camping.

At about 2 am I woke up freezing. I put on everything I had to wear, including 2 pairs of socks, then i put on my normal shoes and my waterproof riding suit. After that I went back to sleep, it still wasn’t warm but at least I could sleep now.

When I woke up in the morning, I felt I was starting to get sick. I went to take a long, hot shower, but while the “warm” water that came out of the shower head did warm up my toes enough to get my feeling back, the rest of my body was even colder afterwards. So i quickly ate something and got going.

The offroad ride was fantastic, the weather was fine. The trail lead through a beautiful forest, Sometimes there was some loose Rocks making up the way which lead to a nice alternation.

I stopped in Volcje, where i met two groups of riders. I talked to one of the groups, they were from Switzerland and also riding the TET.

I didn’t Talk to the other group because they were eating and I didn’t want to disrupt them. Both groups soon left and after eating something at the Lake I followed their Tracks.

The terrain soon got more difficult, because of the still partly wet and muddy ground, so a while after leaving the restaurant at the Lake I passed one of the groups.

One of them was riding on a beautiful old BMW and they did not want to risk breaking the bike. That was a good idea of them, because only a few km later there was a awesome, but difficult part, that went steep uphill and downhill while still being a bit muddy. Nothing that the trusty KLR would have had problems with though, so I continued my way.

In the early evening I rode along a mountain pretty close to the Cr border, the dirt roads were awesome and you could see pretty far, which allowed for relatively high riding speeds, which was a lot of fun.

In the evening I stopped at Prelesje, at a Restaurant and had a trout with fries (the trout was really good, just as stated on the TET map!). Then I went to a campsite in Gorenji Radenci and set up my hammock for the night.
