Riding the TET (Day 8 | Albania )

My campsite had a restaurant with breakfast, so I had a “Traditional Albanian breakfast” which was fried eggs with bread and small pancakes with jam. There was also a slice of goat cheese but i did not know what to do with that…

I got on my way and followed the path up many serpentines until it was on top of a big mountain.

On the other side there was fresh road being constructed, so there was many big trucks hauling stuff up the hiill. They kindly stopped whenever they saw me in their rear mirrors, in order to let me pass.

I saw a two groups of motorcycle riders coming my way on top of the mountain. They were nice and waved but I did not talk to them.

Th way went down the other side of the mountain, where I had kilometers of freshly paved road in front of me.

I had a blast riding it and when i arrived in Theth I stopped for a small break before the offroad section started.

The offroad bit was just as awesome as the people at the campsite had described the day before!

It was fun, but not too hard. A dirt road with big rocks and big postholes.

The most dangerous thing I remember was the people working there. It seems like there are a lot of people WHO have the job to take tourists along that path.

They mostly have old Range Rovers or Mercedes vans. All of Them are very friendly and wave, when they go by, but the guys in the Range Rovers often go very fast so I had to watch out not to get overrun.

For some time I rode along the river, then I went over it on a bridge. The trail now went uphill and it became more rocky.

I went on, but now it was more and more of a crawling in first gear. As I was about halfway up to the highest point of the trail, I stopped to check my luggage.

Im Lucky I did that, because Ihad lost my rain gear somewhere in the passt hour of riding! So I turned around and went downhill again. But luckily after Just 15 minutes of going downhill, I asked one of the guys in a Mercedes Van, if he had seen something laying in the track. He smiled at me, reached to his glovebox and gave me my rain gear! So I thanked him, was happy about friendly people and turned around again.

When I was at about the highest point of the offroad trail, I saw some riders coming from the other direction.

I stopped and waited a bit and noticed, that this were the guys from the Netherlands, that I had met in Croatia half a week ago!

We had a talk and thats where one of them pointed out that both of my forkseals were leaking!

There was however nothing I could do on top of the mountain; so I continued and made my way down into the valley that layed before me.

In the early evening I arrived in Shkodra.

I looked for a campsite, got some money from a very confusing atm and went there. The Campsite I stayed at is called Camping legjenda. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay.
